Does your hockey gear smell!?
How to get rid of hockey odor? How to prevent it in the first place?
Simple guide to preventing your gear from smelling.
First, we need to clean your gear. Throw it the washer or tub soak it with any cleaning agent. Air dry the gear in the sun.
Preventing odor:
1) Wearing base layers. Full length for upper and lower body. This is going to help with the sweat and dead skin cells from going into your equipment. By doing this you're going to slow down the rate of sweat and odor going into your equipment.
2) Air dry your equipment every time you finish playing hockey. Yes, its a must. Don't be lazy and take it out. You'll thank yourself later.
3) Washing regularly. Whether you play a lot, or just play recreationally, clean it consistently every so often. I tend to wash my equipment when I have a long break in between.. Give yourself a few days apart. You could try cleaning your equipment every few months.
4) Set up a drying station/rack for your gear to air dry or sun dry. By having a proper space you'll find it takes less effort to clean your hockey gear.
Those are the simple steps to clean and maintain/prevent your hockey gear from smelling like sh**.
