Pre-Game Meals ? When ?

Pregame meal.  PRE (before game?) meal?

A lot of people think the most important meal for pregame, is PREGAME MEAL.  That is all false.  Why?  Because, you need to be patient with the digestion period.  What do I mean by this?  The reason is pregame meal actually starts from when you wake up.  It is a safe bet to say 10 hours before game time.  You want to carb up and let the digestion process kick in.  Of course, you might ask, what if I get hungry for lunch and dinner?  If your game time is at 8 pm, I'd suggest carb high during lunch.  Follow up with a balanced meal no later than 5-6 pm.  You'll need to have enough time to also digest the 5-6 pm meal.  During this time, you'd like to have something light to satisfy your hunger.  

 

If you're running out of time and getting hungry around 6-7 pm, I'd suggest to have a smoothie, a muffin or any simple carbohydrates.  Oh yes, fruits too.

8 Hours prior to game - Carb up Meal

3-5 Hours lighter meal

1-2 Hours - smoothie/fruit/simple carbohydrates

*STAY HYDRATED THE WHOLE DAY WITH WATER or YOUR FAVORITE SPORTS DRINK*

Post game meal:  Proper meal or simple carbohydrates like fruits/smoothie with protein powder.  

I won't bore you too much on what exactly to eat or big words pertaining to pregame meal, but if you follow these steps and track it, you'll will be flying out there.
